This essay analyses the opportunities and challenges in the development of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau grassland animal husbandry, and proposes the concept of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Community-Based Animal Husbandry and new ideas for development. It covers the up-to-date outcomes of the following five foci of the project’s research and demonstration: 1) adaptative natural rangeland utilization technology and model; 2)local forage species based ecologically safe forage production chronology and model; 3)local animal heritage breeds protection and utilization technology and model; 4) local specialized animal products quality improvement technology and production model; 5)the strategy of local capacity building and participatory community action demonstration.
