RCT for CIPCA to prevent posttraumatic psychopathology among duhok children during corona crisis: a bio-psycho-social immunity model

Husham Bayazed

Objectives: Both the brain and the immune system are self‐referential, i.e., are involved in the recognition of “self” versus “non‐self”. Furthermore, both systems involve innate responses as well as characteristics acquired through interactions with the environment, i.e., “learning” and “memory”. It seems more puzzling that under long‐term stress and crisis, the brain‐immune mechanisms are associated with suppression of some immune parameters. However, a positive psychological intervention mechanism, which serve adaptive purposes in the regulation of behavior and changes in emotional state be reflected in changes in the immune system. This randomized clinical trial of CIPCA intervention approach was initiated and promising to prevent posttraumatic psychopathology, as any biological vaccination do concerning infections and boosting immunity. Patients & Method: All registered children 6-18 years in Duhok health care system during Corona crisis are invited to participate in a RCT to study the effectiveness of CIPCA in preventing posttraumatic psychopathology. As pretest, clinical data and laboratory analysis detecting Corona virus and immunity parameters are obtained from the admission/quarantine unites, and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and Harvard-Uppsala Trauma Questionnaire for Children (HUTQ-C) interview to identify child competences, behavioural problems, and traumatic experiences. After the pretest, every child is randomized to direct CIPCA intervention or after 6 months’ Waiting list. A prospective longitudinal study is planned for 5 years annual follow-up.
