This study was ignited with the aim to evaluate rational use of antibiotics in Pakistan. The research was conducted to assess the antibiotic prescribing pattern of the physicians in renowned hospitals in Pakistan. This study is descriptive in nature. The population took under study was from the different wards of Nishter Hospital Multan. The 150 respondents were the patients admitted in different wards of the hospital. The aided questionnaire survey method was used to fetch the data and analyzed by the help of SPSS 17.The results shows that more than 50% patients receive the antibiotics empirically, Less than 40 % are to be witnessed to be receiving antibiotics prophylactically and only the limited numbers of patients are able to have receivedantibiotics specifically. As most of the antibiotics are used empirically this is supposed to be the major reason for the development of resistance.
